Kitchen & Utility Hove

A contemporary update of kitchen, dining and utility for this family home in Hove. By stealing some of the existing garage we were able to make a show stopper of a utility room with carefully planned storage and work areas during phase one. The kitchen, phase two, was led by a love of blue with the client which we embraced with the stunning aga. The layout was kept largely as before but the devil is in the detail with an planning cook and prep zones, scalability for large scale socialising and practicalities of cleaning and keeping the contemporary minimalist feel to the space.

With a beautifully designed garden to look out onto we ensured that the space felt light and bright, with an access window which can be opened onto the seating area as a serving hatch come summer for food and drinks. By using a waterfall of the quartz worktop it meant the design feels seamless.

To emphasise the shot of teal blue in the aga we chose a kitkat tile to stretch the colour across the kitchen. This then acted as the perfect foil to the off white and dark blue cupboards and island. A breakfast pantry helps keep surfaces uncluttered and the overall effect is calming but uplifting. Lighting is elegant and unobtrusive but by using layers of lights it means the mood can be changed at will depending on the situation from detailed task lighting to evening dinners and more intimate lighting.

By ensuring that the shaker style doors and hardware were used in both utility and kitchen and worktops flowed through it keeps a cohesion between the rooms.
